City states
Spread between the great nations is a multitude of small tribes, neutral towns and powerful city states. City states have evolved from neutral towns but have not taken the final step to become a nation.
City states are free to play! They can be played for as long as desired as there is no maximum number of turns, and should the controlling player wish to upgrade his city state to a regular nation it's possible for the cost of the normal setup fee for a nation.
What are the differences between a city state and a regular nation?
- City states are not allowed to expand their territory by building new villages and have limited diplomatic options.
- City states start with a smaller population and have a 'City state' settlement instead of a Capital. Their starting town is equal to that of a nation.
- City states start with the same units as a regular nation.
- City states don't have a royal family.
- City states have similar research rate to a nation.
- City states do not receive any religious bonuses and are not allowed to select a heritage.
- City states do not receive the starting research and population bonuses that a regular nation receives.
- City states are not included in the top lists.
- Support will only be given through our forum.
City state settlement:
| Buildings | 8 buildings can be constructed |
| Characters | There is room for 8 characters |
| Food collection | All sectors within sight range. A city state always has a basic food output of 3500 food. Food from buildings and the bonus from improved terrain will add to the basic food output. |
| Minimum population | None, a city state will only be demoted in status when captured by an enemy nation |
| Sight | 3 sectors |
| Unit training capacity | 2 units each cycle |
| Recruitment capacity | 125 soldiers each cycle |
| Free garrison | The city state always pays the wages for the most expensive garrison unit (ability type archer, melee, pike, start or unliving) |
| Research | The city state will dominate the research of your position |
| Trade stations | There is no limit to the number of trade stations that can be established in a city state |
